Hill Sewell, Of Counsel
Birmingham attorney Hill Sewell holds the highest rating of “AV-Preeminent” from Martindale-Hubbell and has been practicing law for more than 35 years with a primary focus on successfully defending claims across the broad spectrum of healthcare work. That interest was sparked by his father’s chosen career as a dermatologist. After graduating from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1984, Hill worked with Starnes & Atchison defending medical providers and nursing homes for 10 years, then was heavily recruited to join another major Birmingham based Firm in their healthcare section. During that tenure, Hill’s representative clients included Baptist Health System, Montclair and Princeton hospitals and Shelby Medical Center. “My main work I’m passionate about is aggressively defending physicians, surgeons and other medical personnel who have been sued for malpractice,” he explains. “I am also equally avid about defending nursing homes and their employees in all types of claims and litigation.”
Prior to joining Hale Sides, Hill was sought out by another major Alabama Firm for his successful record in defending nursing homes, and other major claims against home inspectors, real estate appraisers, architects and engineers. Hill also received additional training through the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the Alabama State Bar and is now a highly respected mediator of
claims specifically involving medical malpractice, nursing home negligence or abuse, and other related medical providers.
Hill is a Member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Alabama Defense Attorneys Association. He is also admitted to practice before the Northern, Middle and Southern Federal Districts, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
When he isn’t defending or mediating claims, Hill enjoys spending time with his extended family and friends, playing golf, traveling to the coast and especially spending time with his grandchild. Hill and his wife, Stephanie, have three adult children and live in Birmingham.
